Lumineers
What are Lumineers?
CERINATE’s Lumineers are very similar to veneers, as they serve the same purpose, however they are a thinner material.
CERINATE’s LUMINEERS are porcelain veneers that are wafer-thin similar to contact lenses and are fixed over the original teeth without necessitating the reduction of the tooth structure therefore making the procedure reversible.
How long do Lumineers last?
Lumineers lifespan, when looked after well, can last up to 15 years, although a study shows that 94% of Lumineers lasted up to 20 years.
Are Lumineers really reversible?
Yes, even though the Lumineers is cemented on, they can also be removed when required and the tooth will return back to its original formation with not compromise of the enamel. This is possible as no alterations have been done to the teeth and therefore the teeth still has its original enamel strength.
Will anaesthesia be required?
No, as no or little alteration will be made on the teeth, therefore no pain should be felt.
However appreciating the fact that the tooth will be bonded strongly on to the Lumineers, upon removal of the Lumineers the dentist may offer anaesthesia as they will need use dental equipment to remove the Lumineers, therefore it could create some discomfort.
Are there many types of Lumineers?
No, there is only one professional manufacture; CERINATE’s LUMINEERS can only be purchased from Den-Mat Corporation. It’s important to ask your dentist if the Lumineers that they supply are from the same place.
Can Lumineers be used instead of braces?
In many cases this can be done, however it really depends on the structure of the teeth. Your dentist will be able to examine your teeth and let you know if orthodontic treatment is necessary prior to fitting the Lumineers or if there is a more suitable alternative.
Can any dental clinic offer Lumineers?
Unfortunately not all dental practices can offer Lumineers, as it requires being professionally qualified and skilled in that sector. The cosmetic dental practice will also be required to be registered to the Den-Mat Corporation, as this is the only supplier and manufacture of Lumineers.
Can Lumineers be fitted immediately?
Lumineers need to be customised to fit each tooth perfectly therefore an impression of the teeth will be required. This means two appointments are required. However in between appointments you will not require temporary Lumineers as your teeth will not be altered.
Step by Step
1. The initial step of getting Lumineers fitted will be attending a consultation where a dentist can examine your teeth and understand what you are trying to gain and therefore making sure Lumineers are the most suitable option for you.
On that day it is expected that the dentist will go through the cost of the treatment and how long the treatment will take to complete.
2.An impression (a mould) of your teeth is taken. To get an impression of your teeth, putty like material in a tray is placed in your mouth and then you will be asked to bite on it. This is done so that an exact impression is printed on the special dental putty.
3. The impression is then sent to the manufacturer, where the mould of your teeth is used as a guide to create Lumineers that will fit your teeth perfectly. This process can take a number of weeks, as it cannot be done at your dentist’s dental technician.
4. On your second appointment, your dentist will have your Lumineers ready to be placed on. They will usually first place the Lumineers over the tooth to make sure that they fit your teeth perfectly and that they are suited for your smile before attaching them. Once the dentist is confident in the choice they will then begin bonding the Lumineers on one by one.
Before they begin placing your Lumineers, your teeth will be given a thorough clean; making sure that the surface of your teeth is spotless so that the bonding holds with maximum results.
5. Once the teeth have been cleaned, they are then scratched slightly to make the teeth rough in order for the dental cement to hold on well.
6. The dental cement is then placed on the tooth along with the Lumineers. Using a special light the Lumineers are permanently bonded on securely.
7. Finally, once the Lumineers are bonded completely the dentist will polish your teeth giving you the perfect smile. If you feel or see any excess dental cement or feel any sharp edges, inform your dentist who will remove anything that shouldn’t be there, leaving you with very natural looking white teeth, allowing you to gain the confidence you deserve.
How much to Lumineers cost?
It really depends on how many teeth are being treated.
At our London Dental practices, prices begin from as little as £495 per tooth.
